The “Azienda Agricola Lo Zerbone” was re-established in
2003. Restoring and extending the old cantina, it was possible to save
an antique vineyard of a little more than three hectares. The vineyard
is situated in one of the best geographical positions for viticulture
in Rocca Grimalda. The “Terroir” produces the perfect conditions
for the two grape varieties grown, which in turn produces a wine perfect
or typical of the style of the region. Also another major contribution
is the exposition of the vineyard to the south-east, plus the age of
the vines (30 years) which produce the high quality of the wine. The
wine produced by the vineyard is from two indigenous grape varieties,
namely the Cortese and Dolcetto.
From the beginning the ambition of the Somazzi family, the owners and
directors of the estate was to share their own enthusiasm with the customer,
offering absolute honest wines, produced only from grapes of their own
vineyard.
The area of a little bit more than three hectares makes it possible to ensure that every step from the pruning to bottling is done very carefully. This simple way of production ensures a high quality product produced by a small family run enterprise.
It is possible to visit the estate at anytime of the year and see every step of the work entailed and purchase directly from the producer.
We have an ecological production, since 2007 the estate is in conversion to organic agriculture.
As main products we offer Dolcetto di Ovada DOC (red wine) and Cortese dell’Alto Monferrato DOC (white wine).
The specialities are “Ciarèt” (Monferrato Chiaretto
DOC, rosé), “Néjr” (Dolcetto di Ovada DOC
Superiore, late harvest), “Curtéis” (Cortese dell’Alto
Monferrato DOC, aged in oak barrels) and our unfiltrated red table wine
“U Zeibon”. For deserts we propose “Valli dell’Oro”,
which is made by harvesting the grape late in the season, ensuring the
correct concentration is reached to produce a high quality dessert wine.
